This 90-minute, pre-recorded video webinar is intended for eating disorder professionals seeking to understand eating disorder behaviors through a Polyvagal lens. After offering this training live for the past two years and receiving positive feedback from participants, I decided to make it available for purchase. This webinar would be an amazing resource for you if you are seeking to understand eating disorders from a trauma-informed, nervous system informed, neurobiological perspective and if you want to learn more about integrating body-based, somatic, and “bottom-up” approaches to recovery.
Learning objectives for this webinar include:
Participants will describe a basic understanding of the Polyvagal Theory, including characteristics of each of the 3 nervous system states (Ventral Vagal, Sympathetic, and Dorsal Vagal)
Participants will categorize common eating disorder behaviors within the 2 self-protective nervous system states
Participants will discuss how eating disorder (ED) behaviors function as misguided attempts for self-regulation, perpetuating nervous system dysregulation and the use of behaviors
This 13-page guide is an educational and self-reflective tool to help you recognize, understand, and ultimately, befriend your emotions. This guide is for ANYONE - therapists, people in therapy, people who are hesitant to go to therapy, teachers, parents - really, anyone, who is looking to invest in their emotional well-being.
The first part of the guide covers why we struggle to make sense of our emotions and offers a paradigm shift away from judgment and avoidance and towards curiosity and compassion. The second part of the guide covers common emotions (see more details below) and offers questions for reflection as well as coping skills.
Emotions covered in the guide include:
